devoid (2017), ink on paper, two works, each 8.5 x 11 in.
devoid are two drawings about great absence — a sense of missing something that isn’t a single moment or memory, but a feeling. Even though an absence is the act of not being there, it can surround you. The drawings are a depiction of sinking into an embrace that isn’t there. devoid are black-and-grey ink drawings done from a sketchbook. There are two figures embracing. One of them is a hooded figure, and the other is a distorted silhouette. Neither of them are distinguishable, but they seem to be familiar.
